Course Information | |||||||||||
Description | In-depth study and applications of polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic functions, and systems of equations using matrices. Additional topics such as sequences, series, probability, and conics may be included. | ||||||||||
Prerequisites | Successful completion of MATH 0332 or satisfactory score on approved test. | ||||||||||
Learning Outcomes |
Upon successful completion of this course, students will: 1. Demonstrate and apply knowledge of properties of functions, including domain and range, operations, compositions, and inverses. (PSLO 1, 3, ALPHA) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, or homework labs as well as pretest and post-test. 2. Recognize and apply polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic functions and solve related equations. (PSLO 1, 3, ALPHA) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, or homework labs and pretest and post-test. 3. Apply graphing techniques. (PSLO 3) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, or homework labs. 4. Evaluate all roots of higher degree polynomial and rational functions. (PSLO 1, 2,3) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, homework labs and group discussion. 5. Recognize, solve and apply systems of linear equations using matrices. (PSLO 3)Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes or homework labs. |

Blackboard: All relevant information about this course will be communicated to you using your LSCPA email and via Blackboard. You should check your email daily, and regularly log in to Blackboard to check for any announcements you may have missed. All communications for this course should be sent using your LSCPA email. Communications from private emails (gmail, etc.) will be ignored for safety/privacy purposes. Homework: All homework will be done online using MyLabMath. You need to log in and get started as soon as possible, instructions for how to do so are on Blackboard. All homework assignments should be completed by the end of the semester, and the homework average will count as 20 % of your final grade. Exams: There will be a total of 5 weekly exams, with one occurring each Monday. Your lowest exam score will be dropped, including a score of zero received for any missed exam, therefore, there will be absolutely no other extensions or make-ups for any reason. Each of your 4 best exam grades will count as 20 % of your final grade. |

Attendance Policy | As an online course, attendance and participation will be the responsibility of the student. Feel free to work at a pace that matches your comfort, but please be careful not to fall behind. Time is limited during the summer semester, so putting things off till later will be a losing strategy. | ||||||||||
